We offer:


Short, affordable courses, taught by experts who are practicing Artists. Courses are available for adults and children, groups and individuals, half or whole day, and mini courses over several weeks - all for beginner or professional. School groups welcome.

We are located in the South-West of France [47], and Arganil - Portugal; we are within easy access of Bordeaux, Toulouse, Bergerac and Agen in France, and Porto Coimbra and and Lisbon in Portugal.

Courses offered are:-


Natural Dyeing / Eco-Printing

You will explore the colouration of cloth and fibres using natural dyes derived from foraged sources. Learn how to extract dyes from plants and use various non toxic mordants to achieve different colours on cloth from the same dye bath. Create your own recipe/sample book for future reference. Experiment with other organic dye processes, such as rust dyeing and eco printing, (tightly bundled cloth containg organic matter)


Indigo & Shibori (Japanese method of dye resist patterning)

You will experience the “magic” of Indigo. The deep blue dye of antiquity. Using stich and wrapping resists with indigo dye create your own exquisite designs on fabric. You will learn how to make an indigo dye vat using an easy method.

Felt-Making

Using merino fleece tops and silk noile create exquisite flat felted pieces or 3D felted objects and vessels. You will learn how to inlay fine fabrics, threads and yarns to create detail, explore the potential of nuno felting (a japanese method of shrink felting) Learn how to dye fleece using natural dyes to create your own personal colour pallette.

Batik on fabric and paper

Learn how to use hot wax and dyes on fabric and paper with this ancient art of patterning. Use a variety of jtantings and brushes to create your designs Make your own jtap wax printing stamps to create repeat patterns


Printing and painting on fabric

Explore and experiment with a variety of ways of printing and painting on cloth and paper using unusual and interesting methods to create your own unique patterns Using stencils build up surfaces this may also include silk screen printing and block printing. Make your own printing blocks to create different marks and repeat patterns


Heat transfer printing on fabric

An eco friendly way of patterning cloth. Paint, draw and collage your designs onto paper using transfer dyes and wax crayons and use heat to allow fabric to pick up the image. You will also learn how to transfer photographs onto cloth using heat Build up layers to create interest and depth in your surfaces.


Sample fabrics produced in the workshops can be turned into scarves, book covers, cushion covers, or simply be for display.

We are open to any day being available for either a full or half day workshop.

All teachers are professionally qualified - MA/BA Hons/PGCE/HND/Permaculture Design Certificate

we are holders of up-to-date Police clearances from UK and France - in France we will provide a qualified French BAFA to legally supervise unaccompanied children under the age of 16.
